We are driving back when we lose our way... we are exploring various routes and reach a dead end.. we park the car and walk around to see if we can find a way out of the dead end. We reach a building and walk up its stairs ( they resemble the stairs of Valiappa's vashi house.. except that it is bright with daylight). Preeta is exploring driving the car over the stairs. We meet an Indian lady ( pretty looking i would say... resembles the indian actress mona..... cant remember... she was in the film "is raat ki subah nahi") she says that its not practical to take the car via the stairs as the road leads no where. She also warns us about having left our car on the road, saying there are a lot of robberies in the area. I rush back towards the car... my worst fears coming true.. i see it pulling away with a group of black people in it. I run behind the car , my palms held together begging them to stop... they drive away with all our bags. Preeta and i are in shock... we remember that the passport was deposited in fitness first and the money is in the wallet with us. We've lost our clothes but atleast have the cash and passports. We feel relieved.
Cut to .... me travelling in a car full of people ... driving somewhere in South India. Its a dual carriageway... it seems like it has rained so there is some water logged in the fields. We drive up a hill and drive down a valley.... to our left we see a lovely beach emerging. We drive towards the beach.... as we get closer we see a fishermen's village along the beach.... colorful trawlers, fishermen in traditional maharashtrian style koli outfits picking out the fish trapped in their nets etc... interspersed we see foreign tourists ( essentially whites) sunbathing in bikinis. I am bewildered by this phenomenon... but also excited on the prospect of seeing skin... my eyes scan feverishly to see if i can catch any topless women. I dont see any, all of them are in bikinis... though skimpy. I see them all around lying on mounds of sand and even on little stone mounds heaped for construction purposes. I am amazed too see how these foreigners would go anywhere in search of the sun.
